Brand New Music

Hiss Golden Messenger | Hallelujah Anyhow
What the album lacks in original musical ideas is made up by the incredible amount of charm and compassion. Upbeat Americana with this sentimental tone and a sort of blue-jeaned travelers ideal is rare when combined with conscientiousness and self reflection. There’s not much to digest musically but Hallelujah Anyhow remains an unqualified success.

Moses Sumney | Aromanticism
A revealing statement on love, be it platonic or romantic, Aromanticism is both hearfelt and heartbreaking all at once. Approaching the complexities of relationships with a quiet and powerful confidence, Sumney explores the concept of lovelessness in the 21st century in a way that hasn’t been captured to date. Candid and incredibly pensive, this is a ‘self-help tape’ of amazing depth and power.

Phoebe Bridgers | Strangers in the Alps
There’s a spooky ghost on the cover of this LP, and for good reason: this is a haunting experience. The melodies and sentiments linger long after the music ends, gripping the listener in a tension of vulnerability that usually takes singer-songwriters years (and multiple LPs to achieve). Pheobe Bridgers did this on her very first time out. The amazingly delicate fire in her voice places Bridgers in the same category as Angel Olsen when it comes to her brand of kicking lyrical angst.
